Oasis Fire Barriers: Learning to Live with Fire and to Save the World-Thursday, February 18, 2021

Forest fires are a growing menace in North America and Australia.  In the last two centuries, European settlers worked to stop all forest burning that native people had used to manage the woods.  Now, all the forests are densely overgrown fire bombs … waiting to explode.  The fire seasons grow longer.  The giant firestorms grow bigger.  But, you ain’t seen ‘nuthin yet!  Australia and North America had great natural droughts only a few centuries ago.  They will come again.  Global warming threatens worse droughts and greater heat.  Many forest areas will die off and burn in firestorms …scorching even the soils beneath them and releasing even more global warming carbon dioxide.   There are ways, both old and new, to control the fires and slow down global warming--firebreaks and forest management.  Yet, governments at all levels lack the money to manage the forests.  What can we do? Agrivoltaics is a revolutionary new concept, combining solar panels and agriculture. that could pay for firebreaks and forest management.   Hello, I am Roger Carlson, author of Saving the World Before Breakfast: A Better Green New Deal (available through Amazon.com).  That book includes ways to protect the world and do so at a profit.  In this webinar, I’ll describe the fire dangers and outline some of the ways to tame forest fires and reduce global warming.  This webinar is a valuable adjunct to the Embracing Fire audio CD shown on the left and available for purchase on the website Store page.

The Earth Alone Can Save Us- Monday, April 26, 2021

Throughout history, societies have thrived or collapsed based on the health of their farms, grazing lands and forests.  Without them, they collapsed.   Today’s society faces that worry … along with fears of global warming, forest megafires, and (paradoxically) declining food prices that could bankrupt food producers.   Yet, there are ways, both old and new, to control global warming while producing more food and more products from the land   Hello, I am Roger Carlson, author of Saving the World Before Breakfast: A Better Green New Deal.  That book includes ways to protect the world and do so at a profit.  In the webinar, I’ll describe the dangers and some of the revolutionary technologies to mitigate those dangers.  Along the way, there will even be a little humor and drama.  This webinar will be free because I want to practice describing these concepts and get some of your wisdom.  For a small but vital minority, I want to recruit you to develop these technologies and … save the world.

Embrace both Water and fire to stop global drying

Part 1: First Thoughts During the 2025 LA Fires

Humanity has been drying the planet for thousands of years  as people drained swamps, ignored wildlands, and built tightly packed flammable cities.  A dryer planet burns hotter.  Throw in a little warming and a bit of government distraction, and you get urban wildfires in Los Angeles and Lahaina.  Jeff Krehmer, of Infinite Resources and Roger Carlson, of Saving  the World Before Breakfast, express their first thoughts as LA burns.
